When a pet is feeling ill or has suffered an injury, they cannot speak to tell us what’s bothering them or where it hurts. What’s more, not every illness or injury can be easily detected on the surface of the skin. To accurately diagnose and treat these potential medical problems, we must be able to look below the surface and learn what’s happening inside our pets’ bodies. That’s where veterinary diagnostics come into play. These tools allow our vets to quickly and accurately identify, diagnose and treat whatever is ailing our patients in a timely manner.

Drake Pet Hospital employs the use of a variety of diagnostic tools to help manage the ongoing health of our patients. Our x-ray machine and modern film processing equipment enable us to obtain high quality diagnostic information about your pet’s condition in a matter of minutes. Our in house lab allows us to rapidly retrieve results for a variety of tests including CBCs (complete blood counts), serum chemistries, urinalysis, cytology, feline leukemia, FIV and heartworm testing. The faster we can reach an accurate diagnosis, the better the outcome for your pet.

Ultrasounds can also performed on-site by board certified radiologists. Ultrasound imaging allows us to quickly and painlessly detect possible masses and soft tissue problems, pregnancy and bladder stones.

Rest assured that whatever is ailing your pet, we’re well-equipped and prepared to get to the bottom of the problem quickly so that we can get your pet back on the road to good health again as soon as possible.
