Dr. Hunter Bowen was raised in Kemah, Texas, near Houston. From a young age, he was fascinated by animals and loved caring for the family dogs. As his interest in biology deepened in high school, he realized that he wanted to pursue a career in veterinary medicine. This led him to obtain his bachelor’s degree in biology from Trinity University in San Antonio in 2007 and his doctorate in veterinary medicine from Texas A&M University in 2011.
Dr. Bowen has been practicing in Austin ever since, and he has been fortunate enough to work with a large and diverse group of doctors and to mentor several veterinary students and newly graduated veterinarians.
He is passionate about preventive care, dentistry, surgery, and above all, in establishing a level of open communication and trust with his clients that allows him to provide the best care for their pets. Outside of veterinary medicine, Dr. Bowen loves spending time with his family and friends, cooking, and spending time outdoors hiking and camping.
Dr. Bowen joined Firehouse Animal Health Center in 2017 and loves being part of a team that provides such high quality medical care and excellent client service.
